TWO CENTURIES – TWO INDUSTRIES OF DEATH - FROM CIGARETTES TO MOBILE PHONES – SAME STORY, NEW MASK
There was a time when almost every hand held a cigarette. It was a sign of style, relaxation, even status. For years, the tobacco industry convinced us that smoking was not dangerous.
Icons like James Dean, Sean Connery, Humphrey Bogart, Audrey Hepburn, etc., in advertisements and movies promoted cigarettes – creating the illusion that smoking was a symbol of freedom, power, and attractiveness. Those who warned about the dangers were ridiculed, and the truth was systematically swept under the rug.
Everything changed on January 11, 1964, when the US Surgeon General, Dr. Luther Terry, published the historic document:
"Smoking and Health: Report of the Advisory Committee to the Surgeon General of the United States"
For the first time, it was officially confirmed that:
-
Smoking directly causes lung cancer in men and probably in women, etc.
-
Smoking is the main cause of chronic bronchitis, etc.
-
Smoking significantly increases the risk of heart disease, etc.
That document was a turning point – after it, health warnings began to appear, cigarette advertising was restricted, and later smoking was banned in many public places.
However, the tobacco industry continued to profit from the same addiction for decades, downplaying the risks in public.
TODAY – A NEW ADDICTION, SAME PRINCIPLE
Today, in almost every hand we see a mobile phone. And once again, we are told it’s harmless. This time they’re selling us a “necessity,” not a “lifestyle.”
And once again, famous faces – Lionel Messi, Gal Gadot, Selena Gomez, Millie Bobby Brown, etc. – promote mobile phones and technology in advertisements, presenting them as an essential part of modern life.
According to research, as many as 93.76% of mobile phone users admit that it’s the last thing they put down before sleeping and the first thing they pick up when they wake up.
In both cases – with cigarettes and with mobile phones – there is a “normalization” of behavior: the industry and society accept the harmful habit because it brings profit, and the harm is acknowledged only much later.
Many people think “if it were really harmful, the government would ban it”, not realizing that economic interests often take precedence over public health – at least until the problem becomes politically impossible to ignore.
Mobile phones are currently in a grey zone:
-
There is research indicating harmful carcinogenic effects from long-term exposure to electromagnetic (EM) radiation.
-
Manufacturers are aware of this but focus their marketing on new functions and entertainment.
-
An official document that clearly and publicly recognizes the danger does not yet exist – but history teaches us that this moment will come.
When mobile phones emerge from the “grey zone” and the danger is officially acknowledged, politicians will have to respond and find a way to force manufacturers to at least partially protect their users. In the case of cigarettes, this meant introducing filters – for mobile phones, they will likely invent some form of “technical protection” that will appear as care but will not remove the real risk.
HOW THEY BECAME PART OF US
We use them for waking up and alarms, online banking, navigation, taking photos, recording videos, watching movies, listening to music, reading texts, books and magazines, social media, messaging, online shopping, payments, gaming, entertainment, surveillance and tracking, and much more.
HOW THEY AFFECT US
-
Psychological – increased depression, anxiety, development of ADHD symptoms, attention disorders, inferiority complex, reduced motivation, and decreased work capacity, etc.
-
Biological – effects of carcinogenic and harmful electromagnetic (EM) radiation, sleep disorders, headaches, eye strain. According to medical research, 30% of young reproductive-age men are now sterile, and this percentage is rising. A sharp increase has been noted in the last 30 years, roughly since the appearance of 3G mobile technology, and the trend continues with 4G and 5G, etc.
-
Social – loss of real face-to-face communication, superficial relationships, social isolation, and reduced quality of interpersonal connections, etc.
EM RADIATION – THE INVISIBLE THREAT
Mobile phones, Wi-Fi routers, Bluetooth devices, and other wireless technology constantly emit EM radiation.
There is research indicating harmful carcinogenic effects from long-term exposure, and it is also linked to:
-
sleep disorders, etc.
-
headaches and chronic fatigue, etc.
-
reduced concentration and memory problems, etc.
-
increased risk of infertility in men and women, etc.
HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF – HSC CARD
-
The HSC card was developed to help reduce the harmful effects of EM radiation on the body.
-
It neutralizes and harmonizes the electromagnetic field’s effect on the body.
-
Simple to use – must be placed directly on the device emitting radiation (mobile phone, cordless phone, router, tablet…).
-
Passive protection – works 24/7 without batteries or maintenance.
TIME TO WAKE UP
We must not repeat the mistake our predecessors made with cigarettes.
Remove mobile phones from children’s hands, reduce their usage, and regulate their use – before we receive an official document confirming what we already suspect.
